Our Environmental and Sustainability Policies
We are commited to promoting sustainable and environmentally sound policies in order to minimise the impact of our activities on the environment. In particular we seek to:
- Look at new ways we can improve our performance, from the fuel efficiency of our vehicles to reducing the environmental impact of our sites
- To protect and enhance the local environment in which we work
- To understand and respond to concerns of our customers and local community in which we operate
- Ensure employees are encouraged to develop their skills, awareness and understanding if our business and sustainability issues
- Provide a safe working environment for employees, colleagues and businesses we are associated with
Our waste management facilities
We operate a number of permitted waste management facilities. Our permitted Landfill site and Materials Recycling Facility are supplemented by sites authorised under specific exemptions from Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2007. Waste by its very nature can have an impact on the environment. We work hard to ensure that the waste we handle is done with little or no impact on our local environment. We have used a Risk Based Approach in developing site-specific waste acceptance criteria for waste materials used at some of our facilities. This considers not only the risks to the local environment but also to the local community. We regularly undertake our own inspections and audits of our facilities to ensure that they are not only complying with the relevant regulations but are also being operated in the most resource efficient manner.

Our economic values are underpinned by our Sustainable Transportation Policy that supports and focuses on maintaining optimum efficiency and quality, giving us the edge in a very competitive market. Our ongoing cost reduction programme allows us to negotiate very keen pricing mechanisms with our customers, by efficient resource costs and maximum resource benefit returns.
