Many construction sites find themselves working within a very limited space and opportunities to reuse waste generated on site (for example excavated soils) are sometimes limited.
We operate a number of facilities where this waste can be reused in a range of construction projects from Sports England standard playing fields, golf courses and fishing lakes to quarry restoration schemes.
These sites are authorised under specific exemptions from Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations, 2007. These exemptions permit the use of a range of waste materials for reclamation and constructions projects. All the materials used are subject to analysis and supporting risk assessment.
Due to the large volume of waste required for these projects the waste material is sourced from a number of sources. Therefore we have developed a site specific Waste Acceptance Criteria for wastes at all our exempt waste management facilities. This criterion has been agreed with the Environment Agency and Environmental Health teams at the relevant local authority.
